Synergy Changes End of Tenancy Policy

Synergy has begun to enforce their stated policy that “whenever a property has a power supply, there must be an account holder who is responsible for paying the account.”  When a tenant is advising Synergy that a tenancy is

ending then a notice is sent to the property (not the property manager) that the power will be disconnected 14 days from the tenancy ending. The result is that the property will be without power. Owners will have to contact Synergy and create an account and pay the associated expenses for the period where there is not a tenancy. Whilst the property is vacant and awaiting new tenants there is numerous times power is needed. Examples:  Power to be used for lighting when showing prospective tenants through, reticulation to remain working and on during vacancy period, alarm systems to remain on and any maintenance be attended to (just to name a few). For more information, please speak to your property manager.
