Will Your Property Weather The Storms?

The recent storm that effected large parts of Perth was a good reminder that the wet season is approaching. To prepare your property and prevent water leaks and damage, we recommend that gutter cleaning and a general roof inspection is carried out around March/ April prior to the brunt of the bad weather starting.

Cleaning your gutters regularly can:

  • Lengthen the life of your gutters.
  • Will stop debris from gathering in downpipes and blocking them.
  • Will prevent overflowing water entering your property and causing internal damage.
  • Prevent possible mould proliferation to the property.
  • Prevent pests from making nests.

If you have large trees around your property it would also be prudent to have these lopped back away from the roof or fencing areas to prevent further leave build up to guttering and damage from falling boughs.

Some insurance companies will not cover the repairs required from damage caused by blocked guttering. Gutter cleaning is not a tenant responsibility as it requires specific safety equipment to carry out the works and should an injury occur the owner can be held liable.

If you would like to attend to this at your property, please contact your property manager to arrange a suitable time with the tenant. Alternatively, we can arrange this on your behalf with one of our qualified contractors.
